We're Hiring: Cabling / Low-Voltage Technician
Location: Sheffield, Dinnington
Full Time / 12 months Fixed Term
Salary: Negotiable based on experience.
Arquella is a leading provider of innovative technology solutions, specialising in integrating advanced communication systems. We seek an experienced Cabling Contractor / Low-Voltage Technician to join our team and assist in installing and maintaining Power over Ethernet (POE) cabling systems and other low-voltage cabling systems in various commercial and residential buildings.
Job Description:
As a Cabling / Low-Voltage Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and testing of POE and low-voltage cabling systems. Your role will include working closely with our project engineering team to ensure that all cabling projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate, and test POE and low-voltage cabling systems in commercial and
residential buildings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and local electrical codes.
- Perform site surveys to assess cabling requirements and layout.
- Coordinate with project engineers, electricians, and other contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to POE and low voltage cabling installations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all installations, including cable routes, connection points, and test results.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a POE Cabling Contractor, Low Voltage Technician, or similar role.
- Proficiency in installing, terminating, and testing Ethernet cables (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a)
and POE systems.
- Strong understanding of POE standards and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with tools and equipment used in cabling installation and testing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Relevant courses or certifications (e.g. LV Jointing, etc.) are a plus.
Additional Low Voltage Technician Requirements:
- Experience with low voltage systems such as security systems, alarm systems, access control, CCTV, audio-visual systems, and intercom systems.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for low-voltage installations.
- Ability to install and troubleshoot various low-voltage systems and components.
- Experience with fibre optic cabling is a plus.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and protocols for working with low-voltage systems.
Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience working in commercial or residential building environments.
- Knowledge of local building and electrical codes.
- Experience with fibre optic cabling is a plus.
